Periscope: Warning

Project Periscope: Cars that look around the corner

What if cars could look around the corner? What if they could warn from pedestrians who are trying to cross the street behind a parked car?

ALP.Lab, Cepton and TE Connectivity are working on how to warn drivers of vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists, etc.). In the joint proof-of-concept project “Periscope”, infrastructure sensors detected pedestrians and sent out a warning to approaching cars.

Key facts:
+ Proof-of-concept successfully implemented.
+ Five seconds of warning BEFORE the pedestrian became visible to the test driver or car sensors.
+ Periscope makes road traffic safer for vulnerable road users.
